Though the conditions were not ideal, the Santiago de Cuba Soneros and Las Tunas Escultores came back from a rain delay to finish their game.

The Santiago de Cuba Soneros got a stellar effort from pitcher Manuel Zendejas, helping Santiago de Cuba score a win over the visiting Las Tunas Escultores, 5-2. Luis Guzmán was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save.

With two out in the bottom of the seventh, Senén Chávez had a game-changing hit. The Soneros center fielder slammed a 2-run single off Fernando Vázquez, making the score 4-1, Santiago de Cuba.

"Manuel was exceptional and he pitched with a purpose," said Santiago de Cuba manager Jorge Sánchez.

With the victory, the Soneros record stands at 53-67.
