Atunes Hope Opening Day Win Bodes Well for Season
The Cumana Atunes put the giddy home crowd in an even more jubilant mood after beating the Caracas Sultanes in the season opener at Parque de Cumana. Shortstop Arturo Garza won plaudits for Cumana. He was 1 for 2 with 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2.

In the bottom of the first, Jaime Alanis delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and the bases loaded, the Cumana center fielder hit a 2-run single, putting the Atunes in front, 9-6.

"It was a nice win for our side today," said Atunes manager Marcos Ramírez. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
