Tinajones Victorious at Santiago de Cuba, 6-1

Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Santiago de Cuba Soneros take on the Camaguey Tinajones.
The Camaguey Tinajones rode a solid performance from 29-year-old starting pitcher Hernán Cruz to a win, beating the Santiago de Cuba Soneros, 6-1, at Terreno de Soneros. Cruz yielded 1 run over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. His record improves to 19-19.
The Tinajones got a gift in the top of the first inning, when they were leading 2-0. With two out and the bases loaded, Clodovindo Roybal reached on an error by the SS, driving in 1 run. It made the score 3-0, Camaguey.
Camaguey manager Ernesto Rosario commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
The setback makes Santiago de Cuba 62-55.
