Getting a good performance from shortstop Celedonio Torres, the Caracas Sultanes defeated the Cumana Atunes, 4-1. Torres went 4 for 5 with a triple, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs for the Sultanes. León Hernández, 1-1, earned the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 4.2 innings. The win gives Caracas a record of 1-3.

With Caracas leading 1-0 in the top of the fifth, Torres hit a fastball from Enrico Miegge for a run-scoring double. It was his 1st double of the season and put the Sultanes ahead, 2-0.

"I felt we were ready to go," said Caracas manager Alex McKinnon. "Our pregame was pretty good."
