Industriales Suffer 3-2 Loss to Bizantinos
|
The game between Coro and Valencia is in the books, despite a little rain.
In a low-scoring contest between the Coro Bizantinos and the Valencia Industriales, José Shaefer, who is tied for 5th in the LO in complete games with 3, proved to be the difference. The Coro right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-2 Bizantinos win. Picking up his 6th save was 29-year old right-handed pitcher Noé Jiménez.
Columbano Mendoza, who led the LO in batting average with .310 in 1906, had a direct impact on the outcome. Mendoza contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the second inning to put Coro up, 3-1.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Mendoza. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
Coro, now 16-10, has played well in the early going.
