Marfa Defeats Odessa, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Marfa Ghost Lights and the Odessa Cowhands, 28-year old right-handed pitcher Raúl González proved to be the difference. The Marfa right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-1 Ghost Lights win. González, now 2-0, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Odessa falls to 2-4.
Marfa needed the clutch hitting of Oscar Garza to seal the deal. The left fielder swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Ghost Lights on top, 3-0. For the game, Garza had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager John Roda.
