Loss Tarnishes Fine Effort by Duquesne
Soggy conditions did not keep Meadville and Mentor from playing their scheduled game.

The Mentor Rose Stockings got a superb performance from first baseman Justin Duquesne, but the Meadville Zips still won the game, 7-6. Duquesne went 3-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Meadville has now won 4 games in a row.

Meadville needed the clutch hitting of Alfredo Pérez to notch the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Zips on top, 7-5. For the game, Pérez had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"It was a good night for them and a bad night for us," said Mentor manager Carl Purchase.
