Though he had a stellar game, Filemón Sánchez could not prevent his team, the Newburyport Deep Ones, from losing, 5-4, to the Winchendon Rocking Horses. Sánchez went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Ramón Govantes, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 1.2 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits, while striking out 0 and walking 0. Newburyport now has a record of 4-5.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Winchendon. That's when Toribio Noda hit a run-scoring double off 32-year old left-handed pitcher Eduardo Sandoval to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Noda.
