Gamblers Take Down Stagecoaches, 9-2
|
The game between Manchester and Concord is in the books, despite a little rain.
The Manchester Gamblers beat the Concord Stagecoaches, 9-2, at Express Junction. The Gamblers got a fine performance from center fielder Santiago Marrero, who was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 4 runs. Danny McClellan got the win, improving to 4-3. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and 1 run, while striking out 3 and walking 2.
With Manchester leading 5-1 in the top of the fifth, Marrero came up to bat against Concord pitcher Cándido Fontanals. Marrero hit a slider to left for a bases-clearing double. His 7th double of the season put the Gamblers on top, 8-1.
"Winning is not something we take for granted," Marrero said.
The third-place Gamblers improved to 14-15.
