Francisco Macedo helped his team muscle past the Providence Gems, 11-7. In the game, the Newport center fielder went 2 for 3 with a triple and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Jacinto Soto got the win, improving to 6-5. He pitched 9 innings, giving up 10 hits and 7 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 6. The Pilot Whales raised their record to 22-20.

Nuño Yañes was a prime factor in the win for the Pilot Whales. In the top of the fourth with one out, the 31-year old right fielder hit a 2-run single. He was 2-5 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2.

Yañes expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
