The Bangor River Hogs got a superb performance from first baseman Ernesto de la Cruz, but the Waterville Elms still won the game, 11-9. de la Cruz was 4 for 5 with 2 triples and a double, while scoring 2 times. The third-place Elms have a record of 22-23.

Waterville used the timely hitting of Ernesto Sánchez to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Elms on top, 11-9. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"It was one of those games where both teams were swinging the bat well," Sánchez said.
