The Cincinnati Reds used a top-flight performance from Tim Mayhugh, who is tied for 8th in the WL with a 3.0 K/9 rate, to beat the Louisville Colonels, 1-0, in 11 innings. James Durham, 3-1, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. The Reds lead the Western League by 4 games.
The Reds got a clutch hit from second baseman Dots Miller. In the bottom of the 11th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Reds.
"Tim gave us a heck of an effort," said Cincinnati manager Marshall Locke.
