Regicides Stumble, Losing to Locksmiths, 6-3
|
The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of Stamford fans at The Key Party.
The New Haven Regicides got a sterling performance from pitcher José García, but the Stamford Locksmiths still prevailed, 6-3. García threw 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball. The second-place Locksmiths lifted their record to 31-30.
Had Alarico Piedrahita not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Piedrahita hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Locksmiths.
Stamford manager Sílvano Salguero commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."
