Dedicated fans weathered the storm to watch their beloved Deep Ones beat the Submersibles.

The Newburyport Deep Ones knocked off the Falmouth Submersibles, 8-5, at Innsmouth-under-the-Shadow Park. Saúl Alonzo hit 3 singles and 1 double, while driving in 4 runs. Santiago Acosta earned the win for Newburyport. He lasted 7.1 innings, allowing 5 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 1. With the win, he raised his record to 6-3.

With Newburyport leading 3-2 in the bottom of the second, Alonzo hit a 2-run single off Falmouth hurler Aidan Thomson. It was the 73rd hit of the season for Alonzo and put his team ahead, 5-2.

"Good win for us," said Alonzo. "We'll strap it on and go after the next one."

With the win, the Deep Ones improved to 27-34.
