The Falmouth Submersibles got a superb performance from pitcher Crispín Cruz, but the Newburyport Deep Ones still won the game, 5-4. Cruz threw 9.1 innings of 8-hit ball. José Villagómez, credited with the win in relief, is now 4-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. The first-place Deep Ones improved to 34-27.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Newburyport left fielder Saúl Alonzo, facing Bonifacio Encinas, had a run-scoring hit-by-pitch. It gave the Deep Ones the 5-4 win.

"This game tested our mettle," said Alonzo.
