Skidding Cordwainers Lose 8th Straight
Another game, another loss for the struggling Auburn Cordwainers.

Waterville third baseman Belasco Martínez played a vital role in his team's 9-6 conquest of Auburn. He went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for Waterville. The losses continue to add up for Auburn, having now dropped 8 straight.

Waterville got the win thanks to a clutch hit from Gilberto Cruz. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Elms ahead, 7-6. Though it was his only hit in 1 at-bat, it had a major impact on the outcome.

"We've got to get out of this funk," said Auburn manager Isabelino Vidales.
