Cordwainers Slip Past Elms, 4-2

The Auburn Cordwainers picked up a win at Cordwainers Stadium, knocking off the Waterville Elms, 4-2. Starting pitcher Jack Doscher played a key role in the triumph. Doscher yielded 2 runs over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 5, and struck out 4. His record improves to 5-7. Auburn, now 19-45, holds down last place in the Northern New England Association Maine Circuit.
Had Emanuel Sánchez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Sánchez hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Cordwainers.
"When you have a good rhythm and good flow, it's nice to just go out there and pound the strike zone with confidence," said Doscher.
