The home team gave the crowd at Cordwainers Stadium something to cheer about.
The inspired effort of Bangor designated hitter Labán Arredondo was not enough to prevent a loss, 4-3, to the Auburn Cordwainers. Arredondo was 4-4 with a double and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI. Armando Dacal earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 3.2 innings. He upped his record to 1-0.
In the bottom of the 6th, shortstop Johnny Hill gave Auburn the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Cordwainers had been trailing 2-1, but the two-out single off Bangor pitcher Marcelo Medina changed that -- and Auburn went on to win.
"It was a team effort and I thought the guys had a good plan and approach," said Hill after the game.
The last-place Cordwainers now have a record of 20-49.
