The Providence Gems locked up a win at The Foxhole, knocking off the Woonsocket Foxes, 4-2. On the mound for Providence was left-hander Welcome Gaston. He played a major role in the triumph. Gaston went the distance for Providence. He gave up 2 runs on 8 hits. The Gems now own a record of 28-42.

Providence used a well-timed hit by Pedro Ramírez to capture the win. The second baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Gems ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 2 at-bats, it was important.

In postgame comments to the Providence Chronicle, Ramírez said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
