Newport Beaten, 3-2, by Cranston
|
Cranston pitcher Armando Castillo did his part in helping his team beat the Newport Pilot Whales, 3-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Castillo, who is tied for 9th in the SNEA in saves with 3, went the distance for Cranston. He gave up 2 runs on 7 hits. The winning streak has now reached 5 games for the Madonnas.
Ángel Rodríguez, who is tied for 2nd in the SNEA in total bases with 116, was 1-3 with a double for Cranston. In a tie game with one out in the bottom of the eighth, Rodríguez came through with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It put the Madonnas in front, 3-2.
After the game, Cranston manager Marcos Aldarondo applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
