Fans witnessed a whale of a game between the Derry Spuds and Concord Stagecoaches.

Derry beat Concord on the strength of starting pitcher Gabriel Palacios's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-3. The Spuds have an impressive 46-27 record.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Luis Becerra? The 30-year old center fielder Becerra stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Derry up, 4-3. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.

"Gabriel kind of went out and dug down and got some outs when he needed to," said Derry manager John Fox.
