Pilot Whales Snatch Late Win
It was pandemonium at The Pod Pad after an exciting walk-off win.

The Newport Pilot Whales topped the Providence Gems, 6-5, in 12 innings at The Pod Pad. The game was highlighted by the performance of Newport pitcher Jacinto Soto. The winner was Palamedes Álvarez in relief. His record improves to 6-2. Jack Dunn took the loss.

The game-ending blow was delivered by Kennelly Amery in the bottom of the 12th. That's when he hit a run-scoring double off 38-year old right-handed pitcher Jack Dunn to win it for Newport and cause the home crowd to erupt in celebration.

In postgame comments to the Newport Daily, Amery said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."

Today's win puts Newport at 38-38, while Providence falls to 30-46.
