The Cranston Madonnas defeated the Providence Gems, 4-3, in Southern New England Association action at Madonna's Niche. Cranston pitcher Vicente Rivera had a standout performance. Rivera got the win, improving to 14-5. He gave up 6 hits and walked 1 over 5.2 innings. He allowed 2 runs. With the win, Cranston upped its record to 61-28.

Pablo Quiñones's at-bat in the bottom of the sixth was significant, coming with the bases loaded and the game tied, 3-3. The Cranston shortstop hit a run-scoring single off Silvio Rojas to put the Madonnas up.

"It's a mindset," said Rivera. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
