The Waterville Elms eked out a 2-1 win versus the Lewiston Quebeckers at The Grove. Nobody did more than pitcher Catón López. He was terrific. López, now 10-5, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Waterville has won 7 straight games.
Waterville got a big at-bat from Ponce, Puerto Rico native Jorge Espinosa, who in the bottom of the third hit a run-scoring double. It was his 16th double of the season and put the Elms ahead, 2-0.
"We scored one run," said Lewiston manager John Fox. "You're not gonna get a lot of Ws scoring just one run."
