Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Madonnas
Cranston and Woonsocket took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.

Woonsocket wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher C. Smith, falling to the Cranston Madonnas, 7-4. Smith threw 8.2 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Osvaldo Rosales, now 6-4, was credited with the win in 2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 1 and walking 2.

Cranston used the timely hitting of Diego Escobar to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Madonnas on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We took home the win," said Escobar. "What's not to like?"

The first-place Madonnas, at 68-32, now lead their division by 21 games.
