Wet weather did not postpone the Nashua-Derry ballgame.

The Nashua Gatekeepers defeated the Derry Spuds, 9-2, at The Gatehouse. Nashua was led by 28-year old third baseman Héctor Aguirre, who went 2 for 2 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 3 times. Guarionex Castañeda, the winner, improved to 18-4. He held Derry to 2 runs on 6 hits over 7 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts.

With two out in the bottom of the fifth, Tubrady Owens put Nashua in front, 3-1, with a 2-run single. The Gatekeepers went on to win the ballgame.

"I told our guys, 'Runs don't score by themselves,'" said Owens. "You need someone to get on base and someone to drive them in."

The first-place Gatekeepers hiked their record to 59-45.
