Headstones Knock Off Melodeons at Harmonious Grounds
|
Though the conditions were not ideal, the Barre Headstones and Brattleboro Melodeons came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
The Barre Headstones picked up a win at Harmonious Grounds, knocking off the Brattleboro Melodeons, 5-2. Starting pitcher Miguel Martínez was a big reason why. Martínez yielded 2 runs over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 8. His record improves to 17-10.
Barre relied on the bat of Adam Harrison to get the win. The center fielder ripped a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Headstones ahead, 2-0. For the game, Harrison had 2 doubles and 1 triple in 5 at-bats.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Barre manager Édgar Huerta.
At 65-50, Barre is in second place in the Northern New England Association Vermont Circuit.
