The Louisville Colonels had to overcome a good performance from Cleveland pitcher Jim Gardner to claim a 3-2 win at League Park I. Gardner went 8.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Louisville reliever Vean Gregg picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Jordan Gregory was tagged with the loss. The second-place Colonels now have a record of 30-33.

Louisville used the timely hitting of Chase Wallar to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Colonels on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"It'd be nice to win by four or five runs," Wallar said, "instead of holding our breath the whole game."
