Lilac Stockings Earn 9-8 Win Versus Halites
Syracuse got a terrific game from first baseman Juan Rubio. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Rochester, 9-8, in 14 innings. Rubio was 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. Rochester reliever Josh Mecke picked up the win, upping his record to 5-10. John Barnett was saddled with the loss. Rochester sits in last place in the Eastern Great Lakes Association League of Lake Ontario at 27-44.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the 14th for Rochester. That's when Balbino Fornaris hit a run-scoring double off 33-year old right-handed pitcher John Barnett to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"I know we have our doubters," said Syracuse manager Emerson Pye. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
