Woonsocket took on Cranston in front of a lively crowd.

With shortstop Ángel Alcorta leading the charge, the Woonsocket Foxes defeated the Cranston Madonnas, 7-5, at The Foxhole. Alcorta went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and a walk. Amador Díaz was the winner. He's now 11-13. The loser was 30-year old right-handed pitcher Armando Castillo.

Woonsocket took control in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Francisco Guzmán hit a run-scoring single to make it 4-3, Foxes.

"Hitting, winning. It's just contagious," said Alcorta.

The second-place Foxes have won 6 consecutive games.
