Led by Mateo López, the Mayaguez Alfereces defeated the Moca Comefuegos, 8-4. López went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Alfereces. Mayaguez bumps their record to 6-16 with the win.

Mayaguez relied on the bat of Miguel Salcido to get the win. The right fielder ripped a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Alfereces ahead, 5-2. For the game, Salcido had 1 double and 1 triple in 5 at-bats.

"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Salcido told the Mayaguez Gazette.
