Locksmiths Lose to Mystic, 9-4
|
Mystic second baseman Faustino Vergara made his presence felt in the 9-4 Drawbridges triumph over the Stamford Locksmiths. Vergara went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Miguel Morales, the winning pitcher, is now 8-11. He went 6.2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 9 hits, while fanning 1 and walking 8. Mystic is now 59-67.
Vergara had a key at-bat for Mystic in the bottom of the second. With the bases loaded, he hit a grand slam home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and gave Mystic an early 5-1 lead.
"Pedal to the metal" is how Mystic manager José Álvarez described his team's approach.
