Madonnas Claim 5-1 Win

The Cranston Madonnas beat the Woonsocket Foxes, 5-1, at Madonna's Niche. Starting pitcher Armando Castillo was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Castillo, who leads the SNEA in quality starts with 23, went the distance for Cranston. He gave up 1 run on 9 hits. At 70-56, the Madonnas find themselves in first place in the Southern New England Association Rhode Island Circuit.
In the bottom of the third, Cranston first baseman Efraín Muñoz had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 2nd and two out, Muñoz stroked a run-scoring single to right-center. It made the score 2-1, Cranston. For the game, he was 2 for 4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Woonsocket manager Darío Avellaneda.
