Deep Ones Suffer 5-1 Loss to Rocking Horses
|
Winchendon Rocking Horses starter Calvino Mejía pitched a strong game against the Newburyport Deep Ones at Innsmouth-under-the-Shadow Park, leading the Rocking Horses to victory, 5-1. Mejía yielded 1 run over 8.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 6, and struck out 4. His record improves to 16-13. Winchendon, now 74-54, holds down first place in the Southern New England Association Massachusetts Circuit.
In the top of the third, Winchendon first baseman Homero Méndez had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 2nd and two out, Méndez stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 1-0, Winchendon. For the game, he was 2-3 with 2 singles.
