Regicides Win by Slim Margin, 3-2
|
The New Haven Regicides defeated the Stamford Locksmiths, 3-2, in Southern New England Association action at Stuart Park. New Haven pitcher Mordecai Brown had a standout performance. In 9 innings, Brown surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 3. He allowed 2 runs. After today's action, New Haven sits at 56-73, while Stamford falls to 64-65.
Ray Larsen was the walk-off hero for New Haven. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Regicides designated hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"When Mordecai is on, he can really move the ball around," said New Haven manager Guiomar Barrientos.
