Locksmiths Roll Past Vampires, 9-0
|
The Stamford Locksmiths locked up a win at The Key Party, knocking off the Griswold Vampires, 9-0. On the mound for Stamford was right-hander Reynaldo González. He played a major role in the triumph. González yielded no runs over 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 0, and struck out 5. His record improves to 17-16. At 69-62, the Locksmiths find themselves in first place in the Southern New England Association Connecticut Circuit.
The Locksmiths got a big hit from second baseman Marcos Vélez. Facing Griswold pitcher Bernardo Carrillo in the bottom of the sixth, Vélez pounded a 3-run home run to left. His 5th home run of the season put the Locksmiths ahead, 9-0.
Said losing manager Eufemio Ahumada: "'I liked the effort, just not the results."
