The Santa Isabel Petisos and Ponce Hidalgos completed their game despite the inclement weather.
The performance of Montrell Tafoya proved critical in helping Santa Isabel beat Ponce, 7-4. The Petisos left fielder went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. Nicolás Alarcón, 1-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 5 innings.
Kenichiro Tsuji cracked a home run off Kellagh Meye in the top of the first. His 3-run blast put the Petisos on top, 3-0. In all, Tsuji had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5.
"Our approach was just to try to see something over the plate and be aggressive," Tafoya told the Santa Isabel Gazette.
By defeating Ponce, the 7th-place Petisos improved to 16-14.
