Not everyone stuck through the 56-minute rain delay, but those who did went home happy.
The Barranquitas Insignes beat the Ciales Guapetones, 7-4, at Parquecito de Barranquitas. Ernesto Valdez was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The 20-year old shortstop was a menace to Ciales all day. The win went to Balbino García in relief, making him now 1-2. Palamedes González took the loss for Ciales.
In the bottom of the seventh, Michael Rees delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and the bases loaded, the Barranquitas left fielder hit a 2-run single, putting the Insignes in front, 7-4.
"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Rees.
The Insignes now own a record of 14-18.
