Gurabo Rallies for 8-7 Victory
|
The Gurabo Escaleras weathered a fine game by Culebra designated hitter Jean Duchemin to upend the Careyes, 8-7, at Parquecito de Culebra. Duchemin went 3 for 4 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times. The Escaleras improved their record to 15-22 by beating Culebra.
Gurabo needed the clutch hitting of Bill Gillberry to seal the deal. The right fielder swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Escaleras on top, 8-7. For the game, Gillberry had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Gurabo manager Juan Ortiz.
