Parquecito de Canóvanas was the site for Liga José Padilla action featuring the Canovanas Criptidos and Carolina Belicosos.
The Canovanas Criptidos got a sterling performance from pitcher José Rivera, but the Carolina Belicosos still prevailed, 9-7. Rivera came in in relief and pitched to 20 batters. Carolina starter Francis McDonald was credited with the win after throwing 100 pitches over 6 innings. His record now stands at 6-2.
Osvaldo Aguilera had a big bases-clearing triple for the Belicosos in the top of the third inning. With Carolina leading 4-2 and the bases loaded, he got a sinker from 19-year old left-handed pitcher Daniel Sánchez and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 2nd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Belicosos ahead, 7-2.
"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Aguilera, "but we got it done."
Carolina's record now stands at 24-18, placing them 5th in the Liga José Padilla División Rosendo Matienzo Cintrón.
