The Mayaguez Alfereces, despite a fine performance by San Sebastian pitcher Walter McNew, grabbed a 3-2 win in 11 innings at Parquecito de Mayagüez. McNew allowed no runs over 9.1 innings. Mayaguez is now 18-25, San Sebastian 26-17.

The Alfereces were down to their final out when left fielder Enrique Gamino turned a 2-2 fastball from Heliodoro Alatorre into a 2-run single. The walk-off single made the Parquecito de Mayagüez crowd go wild.

Gamino called the extra-inning win a "confidence builder."
