The Mayaguez Alfereces, despite a fine performance by Moca pitcher Archie Watt, grabbed a 3-2 win at Parquecito de Mayagüez. Watt allowed 2 runs over 11 innings. Nicolás Acosta picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-4. Rafael Martínez was tagged with the loss. The Alfereces raised their record to 18-28.

Up to bat in the bottom of the 13th, 16-year old left fielder Dennis Pitchford had a chance to be the hero. Moca pitcher Rafael Martínez wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, Pitchford drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Alfereces had themselves a thrilling win.

"Our team showed some spunk," said Pitchford.
