Comecocos Tack 3-1 Loss on Careyes
|
The Luquillo Comecocos defeated the Culebra Careyes, 3-1, in Liga José Padilla action at Parquecito de Culebra. Luquillo pitcher Miguel Fragoso had a standout performance. Fragoso yielded 1 run over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 4, and struck out 6. His record improves to 1-2. Luquillo is now 28-20, Culebra 27-21.
Tied up with the Careyes in the top of the fifth inning, the Comecocos got a boost from left fielder Humberto Martín. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Martín saw a 3-1 changeup from George Beals and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Luquillo on top, 1-0.
"Miguel was pumping the zone," said Luquillo manager George Heubel.
