Buenrostro Tosses No-No Against Idiofonos
|
Elián Buenrostro relied on excellent pitch selection and pinpoint control to hold Penuelas hitless in a win, 13-0, at La Tacita.
"Nobody goes out to pitch a no-hitter," he said later. "We just go out and try to get a win. A 10-9 win is better than a 1-0 loss. My pitching buddies might not be too happy giving up nine runs but a win is a win. The key to it today was I mixed my pitches well. I kept the Idiofonos off balance and guessing the whole game."
The 22-year-old starter rung up 10 strikeouts and no walks in whipping the Idiofonos.
"When a guy is throwing strikes the way he was and is locating well, it is going to be a long day for any club," Penuelas skipper Ramón Ortega said.
This year in 13 starts, Buenrostro has recorded 8 wins and absorbed 4 losses. He has pitched 107.2 innings, allowed 79 hits, struck out 97 and has a 2.76 ERA.
