The Cidra Sabaneros beat the Corozal Maduritos, 8-6, at Parquecito de Cidra. The Sabaneros got a fine performance from second baseman Marcial Salas, who slugged 2 home runs. José María Tello got the win, improving to 1-0. He worked 5.2 innings, giving up 4 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 2. The save went to Efraín Treviño, number 1 for him.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Sabaneros grabbed the lead when Ruy Pérez rapped a two-out double. Cidra was trailing 4-3, when Pérez hit a 2-run double off Dennis Conti to put his team in front, 5-4.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Salas.

The 6th-place Sabaneros go to 26-23.
