The rain could not keep the home crowd from enjoying a good ballgame.

San German registered a win at Parquecito de San Germán by beating the Cabo Rojo Maravillosos, 6-5. Pitcher Álvaro Salas was one reason why the Hermosos triumphed. The 5th-place Hermosos have won 5 straight games.

Santiago de Cuba, Cuba-born Sarpedón Ávalos came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded and the Hermosos trailing 5-4, he hit a 2-run single to center to put San German on top.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said San German manager Antonio Castro.
