The Culebra Careyes racked up a win at Parquecito de Culebra, bumping off the Vieques Zumbadorcitos, 3-1. Sebastián Navarro, who started for Culebra, pitched effectively for his team. In 7 innings, Navarro surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 4. He allowed 1 run. Pánfilo Garza earned the save for Culebra, his 7th of the year.
The Careyes benefited from a costly error in the bottom of the fourth. With Jalal Imadaddin at bat and Culebra leading 2-1, the Vieques miscue allowed Culebra to plate 1 and take the lead, 3-1.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Imadaddin told the Culebra Daily. "You win just by scoring more runs."
The Careyes saw their win-loss record go to 27-29. At the same time, the Zumbadorcitos fell to 16-40.
