Catano Makes It 9 Straight, Barely
|
The Catano Canoneros faced a tenacious opponent in Guaynabo pitcher Oscar Sander, but still scratched out a win at Parquecito de Guaynabo by a final score of 4-3 in 11 innings. Sander went 9 innings and allowed 2 runs. Catano is now 33-25. Guaynabo is 22-36.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Muño Pérez came to bat in the top of the 11th. Facing Guaynabo pitcher Valentín Zambrano, he hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Catano on top, 4-3.
"This game is about whoever is putting up more runs," said Canoneros manager Plutarco Silva. "Simple as that."
