Traverse City pitcher Elián Alarcón did his part in helping his team beat the Sheboygan Brats, 5-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Alarcón, now 10-10, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 8, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. The third-place Amarelles improved to 35-37.

Traverse City went up, 5-2, on Lorenzo Pérez's 8th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Pérez hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Sheboygan pitcher Ricardo Cruz shaking his head.

"We put it together and came out with the win," Pérez said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
