The Gary Blast Furnaces got a superb performance from pitcher Gilberto Moreira. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Traverse City. The Amarelles won the game, 2-1. Moreira threw 9.0 innings of 8-hit ball. Traverse City starter Jacinto Hernández was credited with the win after throwing 75 pitches over 5 innings. His record now stands at 4-5. The Amarelles are now 35-41.

Early in the game, first baseman Micah James had a 2-run double for Traverse City. It was his 10th double of the season and put the Amarelles on top, 2-0.

"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," James said after the game.
