The Erie Commodores knocked off the Norwalk Maples, 4-1, in Eastern Great Lakes Association action at Syrup Park. Erie pitcher and Brooklyn, New York, native Clay Marple had an outstanding performance. Marple, now 7-5, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 7, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. The win puts the Commodores at 38-39, while the Maples drop to 37-43.

Erie took control in the top of the sixth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, Pablo Franco hit a run-scoring single to make it 2-1, Commodores.

"It's fun to come to the yard every day when you're winning," said Erie manager Chris Lehmann.
